Abstract
We present a characterization of female prostitution in places of tolerance in the city of Rocafuerte, Ecuador; Based on results of the research developed by the authors with the objective of having clear and accurate data of the phenomenon in the context of the city. The study was approached from a mixed approach with a descriptive design of the situation, complemented the semi-structured interview technique, documentary analysis and the psychosocial determinant was chosen for the application of the Duke-UNK-11 functional social support questionnaire. The inquiry provided a baseline on the state of prostitution on the site and showed the implementation of a government policy aimed at guaranteeing the rights of women, as well as data that respond to the real causes of their exercise. As for the results of the functional social support questionnaire, the results determine low social support.
